There was absolutely no way in Hel that I planned to marry my own father, let alone sleep with him. Especially not when it involved me sharing my fully awakened powers and life force with him in the first place. No. I wanted Raevyn dead, beheaded, and for his taxidermied head to hang from my wall so that I could look at it until the day I died.

“Fuck you,” I bellowed as I spat in his face. “I’m not consenting to shit. You’re going to just have to drink my blood and hope for the best or fucking kill me, you sick son of a bitch.”

“And what of your friends?” he asked with a smirk. “Are you going to assume responsibility for their deaths for your lack of cooperation?”

This low-life bastard.

I ground my teeth together in frustration and said nothing. This man knew nothing more than how to make a good threat and how to kill off thousands without so much as batting an eye. And for what purpose? What was the point in doing all of this? It wasn’t like he was avenging his father. I mean, he wasn’t exactly born of the best of intentions. He was born of anger, hatred, chaos, and death, but it wasn’t like he even got a chance to know Fenrir to want to avenge him and destroy all life itself.

But what did that matter? Did anyone really need a reason to watch the world burn? As calmly as I could manage, I set my hands down on the table. When I did this, I felt the cool iron handle of the knife partially hidden by my napkin brush against my fingertips. Slowly, and with small enough movements so that he didn’t quite notice what I was doing, I began to pull the knife towards me as I pinned him with a resentful glare.

“And what makes you think that my friends aren’t out there looking for me as we speak, dad?” I growled. “You realize I’m not the only Druid left alive in the world, right? There’s still Max in New York, and unlike me, I’ve seen her do some scary things with her powers, things I could only dream of doing. She could destroy you in a heartbeat. And her vampires too. Not to mention that the man who raised me wants me to be the Lady of his Court. He’d never let me stay here with someone so vile for very long.”

“Let them.” Raevyn leaned forward and chuckled. “There are only two of you left now. I can handle one-and-a-half Druids, don’t worry about that. As for your little lover-boy, I’m surprised they held their own so well and didn’t get killed by your sister immediately. I guess I’m just going to have to kill them myself.”

I took the entire handle of the knife in my hand and swung the blade forward at my father’s throat. Unfortunately, he had already seen my attack coming and managed to kick the entire table in my direction, catching me in the stomach and forcing me away from him.
